June 2nd is the Day of Botev and those who died for for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria. It is celebrated every year in Bulgaria, on the day of the death of Hristo Botev (June 2, 1876).
Bulgaria celebrated this day for the first time in 1901, when Okolchitsa peak, where Botev was killed, gathered his followers and country-fellows to pay their respects.
